Lynne Burton Obituary

Lynne Burton CHARLESTON- Lynne Burton passed away peacefully at home in Charleston, SC, April 11, 2018. She was born May 13, 1953 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of Joseph and Kathryn (Sutton) Burton. She grew up in Elmira and in Lancaster, PA, graduating from Manheim Township High School in 1971 and Hanover College, in Indiana, in 1975. Lynne spent more than 40 years in the hospitality field, including summer jobs while she was in school. She worked at hotels in Lancaster, Clarksville, IN, Columbus, OH, and Indianapolis as well as in Charleston. Her clients loved working with her and returned to her hotels time and again because they knew she would do everything possible to make their stay or event the best it could be. Lynne was married to Marvin (Tripp) Hays. She is survived by Tripp, her loving husband and caregiver, and by her mother; her brother Brian and his wife Lori; and her nephews Andrew and Joshua. Her father preceded her in finding eternal peace. Rae Lynne Callahan held a special place in Aunt Lynne's heart and was her "Rae of Sunshine" for the past eight years. Lynne had many loves and interests, including gardening, travel, dogs, reading, and music, but her greatest joys were time spent with family and friends. She will be sorely missed, but we are glad she is at peace. In lieu of flowers: Pet Helpers of Charleston, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or Hanover College. A life celebration will be held at the family home on June 23rd at 1pm. Visit our guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/ charleston

Lynne was a beautiful and gracious lady. She had a passion for enjoying life. She looked forward to gardening, walking on the beach, but most of all spending time with Trip.
Trip, I am so happy that you found your soulmate and love of your life with Lynne. Even though your time together was not long enough it was filled with precious memories and joy.
My heart and prayers are with you. Thank you for the friendship that you and Lynne shared with me over the years. I hope that you will stay in touch.

I worked with Lynne at the Marriott in Indianapolis. We were friends and co-workers but we lost touch. I am shocked to learn of her passing. She loved her family very much. Sincere condolences to her family and friends and may she rest in eternal peace.
