Lynette Schramm Obituary

Lynette Jo Schramm "Lynn" left us to join family, friends, and Chico, her beloved golden retriever, in eternal happiness on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009. She left this world surrounded by her family. Those of us who were blessed to call her mother, family and friend will forever remember her smile, love, laughter, courage and eternal optimism as she lived life to its fullest, even as illness fought to take her from us. Lynn battled pulmonary hypertension for five years, displaying unbelievable tenacity, bravery and love for life. She spent her final years living, not dying.

Lynn was born Feb. 23, 1947, to Roy and Charlotte (Olson) Lundeen, the middle sister of three, in Minneapolis. She was born into a loving family where she developed the strength, independence and compassion that served her so well throughout life. She worked first as a legal secretary and then various administrative positions during her career.

She graduated from Edina High School in 1965. There she met her future husband, Jeffrey Owens. Jeffrey and Lynn moved to Bozeman in 1977. Although they would later part, she was blessed with two children, Shawn and Kristie.

In Bozeman, Lynn met the love of her life, George Schramm, and they married in 1982. This union created a family of six with the addition of George and his two children, Jeffrey and Jason. Lynn was the glue that held the blended family together through her love, devotion as a mother and a never-ending ability to place the needs of others before her own.

She loved all that Bozeman had to offer. Chances are you would find her enjoying the music and tater pigs at Sweet Pea, dancing at Music on Main or swinging to Montana Rose at Chico Hot Springs. She loved cross country skiing and walking the trails surrounding Bozeman with George and their golden retrievers. Camping in the family truck camper was also a passion for her and George.

Lynn loved her annual trips to Florida where a home on the beach and the Florida sunsets were celebrated with wonderful friends. Her infectious laugh and always-positive nature made the trips memorable for George and their friends. The "pink house," stone crab and "yucca" parties will always be cherished.

Lynn was active in the Center for Cancer Support, now the Wellness Community. She served on the board of directors of the Center for several years. She touched the lives of many individuals during her years with the Center with her ability to bring hope and happiness to others.

The view of Ross Peak and the Bridgers from Lynn and George's home in the Springhill area and the warmth of that home she loved was her therapy. Home, husband, family and friends were her passion. Selflessness was her character.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Lynn is survived by her devoted and loving husband, George; daughter, Kristie Owens; sons, Shawn Owens, Jeffrey Schramm, and Jason Schramm; grandchildren, Summer Owens-Limberg and Sydney, Tanner, and Zachary Schramm; sisters, Debbie Demee and Barbara Lundstrom; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life, including a memorial service and potluck luncheon, will take place at the Schramm residence, located at 5115 Hallelujah Lane, north of Bozeman in the Springhill area, off East Baseline Road, 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 23.
