Lucius Jones Obituary

Mommy Jones and Vivian. Thanks for sharing Pops with us for all of these years. We will miss him dearly. He was a special person to not only my family but all who came into his world. Love you. James and Beverly Tolbert

Soror Jones,
I am deeply saddened to hear the passing of Mr. Jones. Both of you were so supportative during my stay at Lincoln University. I will always remember be grateful for your kindness. May you always remember the special moments and have everlasting memories of Mr. Jones. May God give you strength during this tiime.

Dear Vivian and Eilene,
Surely Heaven has opened its doors to greet your wonderful husband and father. Lucius touched so many lives during his stay on earth, and is probably now walking around Heaven cheering up and rallying the downtrodden. What a fantastic man!
When you feel sad, you can summon some of those beautiful memories of happy times spent together. Lucius will live in our minds for eternity.

He embodied everything that was honorable, caring, and good about our dear university. As a young man at Lincoln trying to find my way, I knew I could always count on Brother Jones for wisdom and a warm smile. I am blessed to have known him and will dearly miss him.

My dearest Viv,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I know how you feel. I know that you are hurting so deeply right now but remember that God's will is perfect and that He will take such good care of you. One thing that kept me going was the assurance that my father was living in a bright mansion above. Take care and I love you.

Vivian, What a blessing Lucius was to all who had the opportunity to know him. I am honored that my family and I knew him before we left Jeff City. May God continue to bless and keep you in his loving care.

Dear Vivian: I am so sorry to hear about the death of your dear husband. Both of you have been wonderful mentors to the young people in our school. Several years ago I read that when a star dies it's light shines for milliniums. Lucius Jones was a star and his light will continue to shine for milliniums. Mrs. Jones, Words are not enogh to explain how much Brother (pops) Jones ment to me. The last 4 years of my life he sent me encorragement every week through the Churches weekly program. Mrs. (Ma) Jones and Eilene I was deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Jones's death. He was a mentor and inspiration to many of us at LU. I will never forget the good times we had at your home. On campus he would always greet you with a smile. He will be sorely missed. Please accept my deepest sympathy. May the Lord continue to comfort you now and forever.

That is just what "Pop" Jones did. The words to that Gospel hymn, one which he sang and lived are so true to his Christian experience and walk in life. Thank you "Mom" Jones and especially you "Sis" Eileen for sharing him with me. My years as a student at Lincoln University were blessed by the embrace I received from the Jones Family. I have valued each and every encounter we have had for the pass 35 years. He is now singing in God's heavenly choir. Continue to cherish the memories.

Our daughter, Lois, has been at Jefferson City Adult Daycare for over 15 years with Barbara Black and Mr. Jones has been a part of the program for this period, so needless to say he is part of our daughter's life all of this time. Fond memories of Mr. Jones as he was known and respected during my years at LU. He was an outstanding role model and had a warmth about him that made us all feel at ease.
