Lucille Marshall Obituary

Lucille Letitia Zumwalt Reed Marshall CHARLESTON - Beauty, serenity, and accomplishments are but a few of the words to describe our precious Lucille Letitia Zumwalt Reed Marshall who went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 19, 2010, at the age of 92. Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend will be missed more than we can express. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 6, 1917, to America Frances Rust and Boon Zumwalt, and raised with two brothers and six sisters in a Gulf Oil camp in Seminole, Oklahoma. She came into this world and went to heaven with a pioneer spirit. Lucille was multi-talented, a novelist, artist, seamstress, bookkeeper, world traveler and cooked delicious homemade potato soup that cured every childhood illness. Her first husband Bert Manford Reed preceded her in death at the early age of 47. He was the father of their three surviving children, Dr. Bert Reed, Spruce Pine, NC, Gloria Reed Chauvin, Pearland, TX and Betty Reed, Charleston, SC. She later married Earl Edison Marshall, who is also deceased. She was preceded in death by brothers Arlie Zumwalt and Ellis Zumwalt, and sisters Lela Walker, Robbie McKenzie, and Clara Brown. Among the loved ones mourning her loss are sisters Annabelle Heironimus, Oleta Brown, Norma Jones; daughter-in-law Ann Reed, son-in-law Lyle Chauvin; grandchildren Jerry Chauvin, Angela Chauvin Nelson, Christina Chauvin Ziegeler, Duane Chauvin, Rebecca Chauvin Fouquier, Earl Chauvin, Julie Reed Neal, Dr. Jennifer Lucille Reed, Thomas Reed, Lana McManus, Melanie McManus, Jan Copley Wilkerson, Sherma Barnwell, Hal Copley, and 17 great-grandchildren. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the compassionate care given to our loved one by the staff of Island Oaks Living Center of Johns Island, Odyssey Healthcare of Charleston, and the outreach ministry of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Folly Beach, SC. The family is planning a private memorial gathering to be held at a later date in her beloved Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to World Relief, 7 East Baltimore Street, Baltimore MD, 21202. Visit our guestbook at www.postandcourier.com/deaths
