Louise McMakin Obituary

Louise McMakin St. Stephen, SC - Louise Carr McMakin, 91, of St. Stephen, SC, died Sunday evening in a local nursing home. Her funeral will be 11:00 AM Wednesday morning, June 1, 2016, in the Betaw Christian Church. Interment will follow in the St. Stephen Episcopal Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM this Tuesday evening. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Hospice of Charleston, 4975 Lacross Rd., Ste. 200, N. Charleston, SC 29406. Mrs. McMakin was born February 19, 1925 in St. Stephen, SC, a daughter of Otto Carr and Delilah Smith Carr. She was a member of the Betaw Christian Church, and was a former clerk at the St. Stephen Pharmacy for many years where she was famous for her hot dogs and chili. Mrs. McMakin enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, and was a Clemson fan. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Humbert, and was the widow of Cornell W. McMakin, Sr. Surviving are, two daughters, Inez M. Radcliffe of Lexington, and Robin McMakin of St. Stephen; two sons, C.W. McMakin, Jr., and his wife, Marjorie, of Moncks Corner, and Dean McMakin and his wife, Beverly, of St. Stephen; two sisters, Ann Bunch of St. Stephen, and Bessie Waldron of Pinopolis; a brother, Billy Carr of St. Stephen; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren.
