I attended Camp Hawthorne in 1952-53. Lorraine Sheldon (known as "Buzz" to my parents) once dated my father, Jay Mills, in Brooklyn. She played piano for Sunday church services at the camp, and many of the hymns she played are the same ones I play and sing today. My favorite then was "The Church in the Wildwood," which Lorraine played often. Bob Mills

I should note I was also lucky to receive a painting from Lorraine for my wedding. It's called 'Rest Hour' and looks across the camp beach from the canoes to the point. It hangs above and to the right of my computer screen. Along with the painting Doug received for his wedding, it is scanned on our Camp Hawthorne (1950-1980) facebook page for all to admire! Fondly,

I am sorry to hear of Lorraine's passing. I fondly remember her from my 12 years at Camp Hawthorne. I have also enjoyed the oil painting of camp that Aunt Lorraine painted for my wedding 35 years ago. I will be thinking of her every time I look at it.
