Lorice Kassouf Obituary

Lorice (nee Mansour) Kassouf Charleston - Lorice Kassouf, a long time resident of Cleveland, Ohio and more recently, Charleston, South Carolina, passed the 2nd of February from complications related to a stroke. Born in 1929 to Sarah and Abraham Mansour in Cleveland, Ohio, Lorice received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Education at Notre Dame College. Upon graduation, she became a teacher until she married Vernon Kassouf, her beloved husband of fifty years who passed in 1999. Together they raised six children and enjoyed a vibrant life centered on family and church. They also shared a passion for fine art, music, travel, golf and tennis. Upon her husband's passing, Lorice's deep faith and compassion led her to remain a devoted member in her community church and hospital volunteer, ministering to people with her love and faith, many of whom said she had changed their lives and given them hope. She also was an avid bike rider, bridge player and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. Lorice is survived by her children, Clifford Kassouf(Kathleen), Karen Kassouf, Cynthia Kassouf, Constance Kassouf, Paul Kassouf (Lavonne) and Phil Kassouf (Amy) as well as eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Ernest Mansour (Lois). She believed deeply in John 3:16, " For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life", and Lorice is now in heaven with her Lord. The Memorial Service will be at Summit Place of Daniel Island, her home in her latter years, at 320 Seven Farms Drive, Daniel Island, Charleston, South Carolina, on Friday February 9th at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, memorial contributions can be made in Lorice's memory to: World Help, PO Box 501, Forest, VA 24551, worldhelp.net or Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607, samaritanspurse.org. I met Lorice through our Star Therapy Dog visits at Summit Place. She was truly a lovely lady, always with a gently smile and a kindly pat for the dogs. I feel fortunate to have known this graceful lady.
