Gwen & Deja,
The Rose -
A rose once grew, where all could see; sheltered beside a garden wall; And as the days passed swiftly by, it spread its branches, straight and tall. One day, a beam of light, shone through a crevice that had opened wide - the rose bent gently toward its warmth, then passed beyond to the other side. Now you who deeply feel its loss, be comforted, the rose blooms there; its' beauty even greater now, nurtured by God's own loving care. -- Mike is safe in God's care now.
Our prayers are surrounding you. "And when they raised their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only - Matthew 17:8"

God is covering you both under the wings of his care; keeping looking up.

Thinking of you both today with so much love.

I had the honor and the priviledge of knowing and working with Lonnie at M.C.P.D for 6 months in 2005. He ALWAYS was so kind and mannerly, calling me "Miss Suzy",and when I would ask how his day was, he would say, "I'm blessed ma'am, I'm blessed!" We've had to say good-bye for now, but I will never forget that wonderful man, a hero that I know is in the arms of the Lord. My heartfelt condolences and prayers to family, friends and M.C.P.D.

April 3, 2007

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

At this difficult time, know that you are being thought of daily. My heart aches for you and I wish there was someway to remove the pain, but I can't, I CAN pray to God that he will give you the strength to face each new day. Mike was loved by some many people, and you're loved by many also. Let's hold onto the sweet memories and let God guide us through.

No words will ever begin to ease the pain of this terrible and senseless loss of life. It was wrong for this to have happened. I am so sorry that it did and I will always remember Officer Wells as a man who loved all children and cared about them no matter what they were up against. I had the pleasure of seeing him with a child in a difficult situation and he handled the child with the greatest compassion and concern. Mrs. Wells, I would like to say to you and your family how deeply sorry we are about the loss of Officer Wells. My son was a student at BMS last year and I cannot tell you how fortunate we were to have Officer Wells there. When my son would get into trounble as youngsters often do he would call me personally and talk to me about it. He encouraged me and he encouraged my son. Officer Well's Family,

Pfc. Lonnie Wells has and always will inspire me. He has touched my life and all of our lives in a unique way. The 1st time I met Wells; he said,"She is going to become a Cop one day." I just laughed when he told me that. He responed in telling me in saying."You and Meagan Bowen are going to be awesome Police Officers when you are older."
So, when I got a call Sunday stating what had happened, I could only think of him at the last Middle School dance...He was out on the dance floor bustin' his moves having a blast just like he always did!! So, Monday when I recieved another call about Stiles' passing...i knew then I was to become a Police Officer just like Officer Wells wanted me to!!
GOD BLESS OFFICER LONNIE WELLS!!!!

To the Wells Family:

Although I have never known Mr. Wells personally, I feel it necessary to extend my sincere condolences in the loss of someone you have held near and dear to your hearts. His contributions to the community have made a huge impact on the lives of many and for that, he will be greatly missed. May the memories that you all share help to sustain you now and in the days ahead. May God continue to bless your family for there is no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge the Lord and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-7

Gwen,

We have shared many things over the years and at this time I too share your grief . I remember how we all used to get together and have such great times and it seems just like it was yesterday. Mike will be missed dearly. It should bring you joy to know that he impacted the lives of others in such a joyful manner.

Just remember that earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To Gwen and family,
I spoke to Mr Lonnie several times when he would come by and check on us during the holidays to make sure we were safe. He always talked about his "kids" at school. He did alot of good in this community and I hope everyone will follow his example. May God with all of you in your time of need.

I am both shocked and saddened at your loss. Lonnie is a fellow veteran and a wonderful friend to talk to when he came into the NEX. Please accept my condolences and my continued prayers.

While I was BMS I got to work with Lonnie. Just last year my wife met him adn was so impressed with his professionalism. He told her that if she had a problem with me to call him and he would "set him straight". It was the attitude and carisma that Lonnie gave with his smile that let you know you were his friend.

I will miss my friend and fellow ship-mate.

To Gwen & Deja,Lonnie Jr., Mother Wells,Alvin,Lump,Sammy,Gina and the Wells Family:

My heart is HEAVY LADEN as I send out heart felt Sympathy to each of you doing these TRYING times. I feel as though I've lost a BROTHER, a FRIEND, a whatever was needed at the time. This is the time that we need to LEAN heavily on the LORD knowing that he will help us through. Words cannot express the LOVE I have in my heart for each of you. Your minds should be at ease because MIKE did not have to pass through the heavenly Gates, They were opened for him because he gave his ALL. And GOD shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
