Barfield was born June 19, 1933 in Pamplico, South Carolina, son of the late Vernon Holland and the late Hilma Eadie Holland. In 1981, he initiated the Fire Department in Goose Creek and went on to lead it as Fire Chief. His unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of his community resonated with many, and his efforts left an indelible mark on those he served alongside. Devoting countless hours to the Fire Department, Barfield exemplified the spirit of service and leadership, inspiring others to contribute to the welfare of their neighbors. His legacy is one of devotion and resilience, and he will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey. The impact of his service will continue to be felt in the community he loved so dearly. Barfield's true passion lay in the time spent in his yard, cultivating beauty and serenity in his surroundings. However, nothing brought him more happiness than spending precious moments with his grandchildren. They were the center of his world, and he treasured each opportunity to share laughter, stories, and life lessons with them.
