Cecil Eide Obituary

Cecil John Eide, 86, of Two Harbors, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005, after a short stay at Lakeview Home. He was born March 16, 1919, to Norwegian immigrant parents, John and Hille (Jacobsen) Eide in Two Harbors, where he was the sixth of seven siblings and a lifelong resident. Cecil served his country in the US Army Infantry during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked for the CCC in Cook, Minnesota, and later at Gooseberry State Park. He was employed as machine operator on the ore docks for the D.M.&I.R. Railroad from 1940 until he retired in August 1979. He married Marie Olson on March 19, 1949. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, Vasa Lodge, the VFW, and the American Legion. Cecil was an adherent of The Salvation Army and a member of their Forever 50 Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, family gatherings, and delivering Meals on Wheels with Marie. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herman, Anker, Frank, and Maynard; sisters, Harriet Collins and Helen Nylund; son-in-law, John 'Doug' Spicer, and infant grandson, Robert Eide. Cecil is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marie, of Two Harbors; a son Dale (Sue) of Owatonna; two daughters, Beth (Richard) Rosen of Zimmerman; and RuthAnn Eide of Saint Paul; 10 grandchildren, Tanner, Jerrod, Zakery, Nathan and Lauranna Spicer, Patrick Eide, Karen and Lisa Eide; and two foster grandchildren, Roseanne (Hess) Allen, and Clayton Hess; 10 great-grandchildren; and beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family wishes to extend their special thanks to Dr., Josephs and all who were involved in Cecil's care at home, in the hospital, and at the nursing home. Memorials preferred to Two Harbors area civic groups. CELEBRATION MEMORIAL SERVICE:1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Two Harbors. Officiated by Lt. Colonels Marvin and Bodil Dahl and Captains Don and Heather LeMar of the Salvation Army. Private Family interment at Lakeview Cemetery. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.

We know that God took Him home and that someday we will see him in paradise.
