Born in Charleston, SC on September 19, 1924, Lisa fell in love with the media and writing. She worked for WCSC as music director and movie reviewer before moving to Greenville, SC and working for WESC as a reporter and WMRC as a Disc Jockey. Back in Charleston she became woman's director for WTMA. Later she moved to Columbia and became woman's commentator at WIS. Along the way she wrote for the News and Courier, the Greenville News and in later became an award winning columnist and feature writer at the Columbus Ledger. Much of her material came from her travels around the world, while John was in the Army. In 1985 she published a book with a collection of her columns "To Dr. Turner With Love. " Lisa loved her family and many friends, and never met a stranger. But most of all, she loved her Lord Jesus Christ. If you were around her for more than a few minutes you were sure to hear her say, Did you hear the Good News? Jesus Loves You!! She is survived by her sisters-in-law Carolyn Battle of Maryland and Connie Battle of Tennessee, her nephews Tommy and Herbert Jervey of Columbia, SC, and many great nephews, nieces and cousins. My prayers are with the family of Lisa Battle. She was such a beautiful person who truly loved her Jesus. I remember how when Howard and I were in charge, she would help at Valley Rescue Mission, especially during the Christmas Season. Her love for others was infectious. Lisa, I will miss you, but I know you are in the arms Daddy, God.

Miss Lisa was a great lady. We met in December 1987 and were neighbors. She was a blessing to my family. She never thought of herself but others came first. She would answer the phone with "Jesus loves you, this is Lisa" She will be missed deeply but I know that she is where she has wanted to be for a long time - with Jesus and John. Her concern has always been for her relatives; that each one would come to know Jesus Christ as their Personal Saviour. May all of the seeds she planted and watered come to grow and bear good fruit in the days ahead. My prayers are for her relatives and with the many friends she had in Charleston and Columbus.

Lisa's loved ones,
The last time I talked to her was 3/3. I tried to call her several times since & her phone was disconnected. My son Jeremy & I have known her for 22 years from Columbus, GA. She was a precious Christian Lady so full of love. We will miss her dearly & her prayers. I'm sorry that we were not able to attend her memorial service, I was in the hospital at that time & didn't know of her passing until 3/24.
We'll always love you Lisa,
Shannon & Jeremy Brooks

To Lisa's Family- Lisa was my Sister in Christ and a cherished member of the Family of God. She has touched so very many lives in her time on earth and I know that she is in the presence of the Master. We served on prayer team together at Holy Trinity and she was a wonderful mentor and teacher to me. I loved her dearly as did anyone who met her. God's blessings to all of you. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
