Linda Rowe Obituary

Linda Lou Avant Rowe Hemingway, SC - Linda Lou Avant Rowe, 79, wife of the late James Edgar Rowe, Jr., passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Mrs. Rowe was born in Georgetown, a daughter of the late Gordon Detlaw (Pet) Avant, the late Janell Tyler Cribb, and the late John Franklin Cribb. Linda graduated valedictorian from Pleasant Hill High School in 1959. She was a cheerleader and member of the Beta Club. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was an excellent cook and homemaker as well. She was an active member of Center Baptist Church, Hemingway, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Girls in Action leader, church hostess, financial contributions clerk, and the President of the Women's Missionary Union. She always had a love for raising funds for missions from nearby to far away lands. She was a member of the Women's Committee of Georgetown County Farm Bureau and the Red Hat Society. She was a generous soul who will always be remembered for her captivating smile. Surviving are her son, James (Jay) Edgar Rowe, III of Surfside Beach, daughters, Gay Rowe Owens (Barry) of Hemingway, Erica Rowe Haddock (Dee) of Pawleys Island, grandchildren, Tyler Olivia Owens of Murrells Inlet, Christian Cru Odis Owens of Florence, Zachary James Owens of Columbia, Juliana Rayne Owens of Hemingway, Henry James Haddock and Mary Clayton Haddock of Pawleys Island; sisters, Claudia (R.L.) Owens of Charleston, Joan Ruth Cribb of Hemingway, sisters-in-law, Joyce (Floyd) Tyler of Isle of Palms, Patsy (Rubeth Earl) Williams and brother-in-law, Truitt (Dot) Owens of Hemingway, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends at NHC HealthCare Garden City and Tidelands Hospice. In addition to her husband and parents, Linda was predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Mary Rowe Owens and Shelby Rowe Douglas.
