A secondary visitation will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, KY 40218. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Clementsville, KY on Saturday, March 5th at 12:00pm. All are welcome in the church hall for dinner after the service. Linda was born on September 24, 1942 in Merrimac, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Francis Andrew Wethington, Sr. and Sarah Odelia Wethington. She moved to Louisville after high school. She attended Ursuline College, Bellarmine College and the University of Louisville and became a teacher. She received the Teacher of the Year award twice, once in the Catholic School System and once in the Public School System. She was a devoted and beloved school teacher for over 40 years. She married William C. Pennington, Jr. "Bill" in 1964. They lived happily in South Louisville until 2000, when they decided to move to Charleston, SC to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Linda "Lynn" as she was called, was loved by everyone. She was always caring, kind, considerate, and compassionate. Lynn touched the lives of thousands of people. We have continuously been told, "your mom, Mrs. Pennington was my favorite teacher". She made a huge impact on so many lives. Lynn is survived by her daughter, Sarah Hildenbrand (Steve) of North Charleston, SC and her son, Sam Pennington (Christa) of Summerville, SC; eight grandchildren, Will (Nikkie), Laura, Hallie, Holly (Ramon), Joey, Cody, Hannah, and Nick; 4 great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Colt, Zoe, and Noelle; siblings, Marietta Wethington of Mt. Saint Joseph, Frank Wethington, Jr. (Sandy), Wilma P. Goebel (Paul), and Richard Wethington all of Louisville; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Odelia; husband, Bill; siblings, Robert Wethington, Geraldine Pennington and Kay Edwards. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston
