Linda Herron Obituary

Linda Jean Herron CHARLESTON - Linda Jean Herron, 71, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Charles H. Herron, III, entered into eternal rest after an extended illness August 2, 2025. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 9, 2025, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Linda was born March 22, 1954, in El Paso, Texas, daughter of the late O. Lynwood Duncan Col USAF ret. and Jean Spanbauer Duncan. After her dad retired, they moved to Rock Hill, South Carolina. Linda graduated from Winthrop University in 1976 and received her Master's degree from The Citadel in 1986. Teaching was her passion; she taught for 30 years, retiring from Sangaree Elementary in 2006. After retirement, Linda loved enjoying lunch with her girlfriends in her beloved Charleston. She enjoyed working outside, bird watching, spending time at the beach, and spoiling her grandchildren. Her love for reading, appreciating the beauty in the world around her, sharing the joy of learning, and wonderful hugs will be truly missed. In addition to her husband of 16 years, she is survived by two sons, Brandon Kirkland of Goose Creek, SC, Harrison Herron of Greenville, SC; daughter, Suzanne (Timothy) Muck of Kingsland, GA; three grandchildren, Brody Hill, Ava Ruth Kirkland, Addie Rose Kirkland; their mother, Chelsea Kirkland; a brother, Lee Duncan; and former husband, Timothy Kirkland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Grant Kirkland; and brothers, Lindsey Duncan, and Oliver Duncan, Jr. Memorial donations can be made in Linda's memory to the Teachers' Supply Closet, 2731 Gordon St., North Charleston, SC, or at https://teacherssupplycloset.wixsite.com.
