Linda Golenia Obituary

Linda H. Golenia
January 31, 1953 - December 28, 2020
Newburgh, NY
After a lengthy battle with cancer, Linda passed away on December 28th with her brother, Tom and best friend, Elayne, by her side.
She is predeceased by her mother, Helen Niski Golenia, father, Stanley T. Golenia and brother, Stanley J. Golenia.
Born in Passaic NJ, Linda made the town of Newburgh her home after the family relocated there 50 years ago. She was an artist, published childrens' book author, and draftsman by trade.
Linda began volunteering through the Salvation Army at Ground Zero immediately after the 9/11 attacks. She spent months providing meals, comfort and encouragement to the first responders in "The Bubble". Unfortunately, the time at Ground Zero was the cause of her illness but something she never regretted.
A Mass of Christian burial was performed in Clifton New Jersey on January 4.
Donations may be made in Linda's memory to Serving Those Who Serve c/o Hajisava, 205 Mineola Blvd. 4H, Mineola, NY 11501.

Dear Tom,
We are saddened to hear of Linda’s passing. We will miss her smiles and wit. I have the book she wrote,
How to Scare a Monster and will treasure it always. Linda really was a special person, spending so much time at Ground Zero. May Linda RIP
