Linda Clark Obituary

Linda Sue Ayers Clark, 70, of Summerville, SC, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, at her daughter's residence. Born on October 20, 1954, in Galax, Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Estel Clayton Ayers and Virginia Missouri King Ayers. Linda was a proud graduate of Galax High School and went on to earn her bachelor's degree with honors from Lenoir-Rhyne University. Her passion for education led her to a fulfilling career as a special education teacher for the South Carolina Department of Education. For 31 years, Ms. Clark made an immeasurable impact teaching students with hearing impairments throughout Charleston and Berkeley Counties, touching countless lives with her dedication, patience, and kindness. Her faith was a guiding light in her life. An active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Summerville, Linda found joy in participating in Bible study and Sunday school. She also gave her time as a volunteer at the Ark of SC in Summerville and embarked on mission trips to West Virginia and Tanzania, reflecting her commitment to service and helping others. Linda's love of reading was boundless, bringing her comfort, inspiration, and joy throughout her life. Her deep affection for animals made her home a haven for four-legged companions, who shared her days and brought endless love and laughter. Adventurous at heart, she embraced thrills like skydiving and roller coasters, and treasured every family trip, cruise, and mountain excursion as a chance to create lasting memories with those she loved. Above all, Linda treasured her family. She was a devoted mother to Christy M. Ashbaugh of Goose Creek, Justin S. Clark and Jenny of James Island, and Matthew E. Clark and Roxy of Summerville. She was a loving grandmother to Cory Ashbaugh, Kyle (Hannah) Ashbaugh, Caitlin Ashbaugh, Devon Clark, Jordan Clark, Tyler Clark, Aiden Clark, and Liam Clark, and a proud great-grandmother to Corbin, Oliver, Astrid, Cullen, and Faith. Her legacy of love and joy lives on in each of them. She is also survived by her dear cousins, Becca, Mike, and Barry; her sister-in-law, Robin Clark; her extended family of cherished cousins and loved ones; and her faithful feline companion, Oscar, who never left her side. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda K. Ayers, and her beloved cat, Johnny Depp Clark. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, adventurous spirit, dedication to her students, and profound love for her family and friends. Her memorial service will be 1:00 PM Monday afternoon, October 20, 2025, in the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, directed by Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner, SC. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon, October 25, 2025, in the Monta Vista Cemetery, Galax, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to The Ark of South Carolina, 502 W 5th North St., Summerville, SC 29483. https://www.thearkofsc.org/donate Linda's memory will forever be cherished and kept alive by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
