I am so fortunate to have known Papa Les. He was such a kind and giving man. As my sister Dawn said, he would do anything to make Amy and us happy. We have so many great memories being a guest in the Zielke home. Papa Les and Marilyn would give us a free pass to laugh and carry on at all hours of the night. I remember one special prom, he bought Amy the dress of her dreams to give a night to remember . And that is the kind of man he was. He was selfless and giving and it was a privilege to not only know him, but also have him as part of my upbringing. Marilyn, I probably didn't thank you enough for all you and Papa Les have done for me and my family. Please know I will never forget.

Leslie was a classmate in school and is often thought of, even though we have not seen each other for more than 40 years. Best wishes and prayers to the family.

I knew Mr. Les from SCE&G. I always enjoyed the times we were together. He was very intelligent, and a fun person to be around. My heart goes out to the family, may the Lord give you the strength to get through the weeks ahead, and the comfort to know that everything will be alright.

Ah... the memories, all 43 years of them. Connie and I met Les & Marilyn the summer of '71, in Easley, SC and became instant life-long friends.
The experiences, stories and life events we have shared these past 43 years 's will forever fill my thoughts... all the laughs, joys and, yes, tears are the cornerstones of an incredible friendship akin to that of brothers.
We shared the birth of 5 children, the passing of parents and siblings, became grandfathers and just about everything in between.
But, it was the laughs, how we could make each other laugh... and, as the years move on, my "Les" stories will only become funnier and farther from the truth as Marilyn remembers it!
Please know that all of ya'll are in my thoughts and prayers as we both morn his passing and celebrate his life and legacy.
I admired my friend, I love him and miss him greatly.

I am so glad that Les was a part of my life. I loved our moments at Accent, our chance meetings in the town, and giving him his birthday serenades.
He always treated me like someone he had known for years. He was full of grace and joy.
