LeRoy Blackwell HANAHAN - Mr. LeRoy Blackwell, 87, husband of Frances Keyser Blackwell of Hanahan, SC entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning June 28, 2012. The relatives and friends of LeRoy Blackwell are invited to attend his funeral services on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at two o'clock p.m. at CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, June 30, 2012 from five until seven p.m. at the funeral home. LeRoy was born October 14, 1924 in Kershaw, SC to the late Elias Blackwell and Annie Sue Smith Blackwell. He was the owner of Blackwell True Value Hardware Store since 1947. He was a former real estate developer in the Charleston area and he was a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He also loved all animals. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances K. Blackwell, daughters: Barbara Bartee and her husband Joe of Pimlico, SC and Sandra Stubbs and her husband Charles of Thibodeaux, LA, sons: Edwin Blackwell and his wife Bobbie Jean of Hanahan, SC and Steve Blackwell and his wife Linda of Folly Beach, SC, a brother John E. Blackwell and his wife Hazel of Hanahan, SC and 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and a son in law Tommy Chinners. He was predeceased by his daughter; Karen Chinners.
