Leonilda Santana Mendoza Obituary

Leonilda Santana Mendoza, age 84, passed away on December 11, 2025, at Twin Pines Nursing Home in West Grove, PA. Born in Lares, Puerto Rico, grew up in Maricao, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Vicente Santana Anglero and the late Antonia Mendoza Martinez. 

She was well known as one of the best cooks in her job at the school cafeterias in her home town, and she was well loved by the students and school staff. 

In her spare time, Leonilda enjoyed singing and playing the accordion. Music was an important part of her life. She was always looking to help someone in some way and then having that 3 o'clock coffee break just with anyone. 

Leonilda will be remembered as someone who touched many people’s lives. She took care of so many people and would do anything for anybody. Her generosity was an example for us all. 

She will be missed for her good sense of humor, she always had a smile on her face. 

Leonilda is survived by her daughter, Maria Rodriguez and her husband, Daniel Cardona; her grandchildren, Osvaldo Sepulveda Jr, Mariela Sepulveda, Natacha Velez, and Natalia Velez; her great-grandchildren, Julieana, Nico, Emilani, Maxwell, and Hunter; her siblings, Edwin Caraballo, Miguel Santana, Iris Fernandez, Raul Santana, Vicente Santana and many other brothers and sisters in both the United States and Puerto Rico. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Antonia Sepulveda.

Leonilda Santana Mendoza, de 84 años, falleció el 11 de diciembre de 2025 en la residencia Twin Pines Nursing Home en West Grove, PA. Nacida en Lares, Puerto Rico, creció en Maricao, Puerto Rico, y fue hija del fallecido Vicente Santana Anglero y de la fallecida Antonia Mendoza Martínez.

Era conocida como una de las mejores cocineras en su trabajo en las cafeterías escolares de su ciudad natal, y era muy querida por los estudiantes y el personal escolar.

En su tiempo libre, Leonilda disfrutaba cantando y tocando el acordeón. La música fue una parte importante de su vida. Siempre buscaba ayudar a alguien de alguna manera y luego tenía esa pausa para tomar café a las 3 de la tarde.Leonilda será recordada como alguien que tocó la vida de muchas personas. 

Cuidó de muchísima gente y haría cualquier cosa por cualquiera. Su generosidad fue un ejemplo para todos nosotros.

La echarán de menos por su buen sentido del humor, siempre tenía una sonrisa para todos.

Leonilda deja en vida a su hija, María Rodríguez, y a su esposo, Daniel Cardona; sus nietos Osvaldo Sepúlveda Jr., Mariela Sepúlveda, Natacha Vélez y Natalia Velez; sus bisnietos, Julieana, Nico, Emilani, Maxwell y Hunter; sus hermanos, Edwin Caraballo, Miguel Santana, Iris Fernández, Raúl Santana, Vicente Santana y muchos otros hermanos y hermanas tanto en Estados Unidos como en Puerto Rico. Además de sus padres, fue precedida en la muerte por su hija, Antonia Sepúlveda.
