Lawrence Smith Obituary

SMITH, Lawrence Lawrence Lee Smith, 88, of Charleston, widower of Regina B. Smith, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2008, at Hospice of Charleston. Born February 10, 1919, in Horry County, South Carolina, to the late Mack Daniel Smith, Ethel Dusenbury. Mr. Smith was a US Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was retired from the Army Corp of Engineers. Mr. Smith was a 50 year member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and a present member of Hibben United Methodist Church, in Mt. Pleasant. Survivors include one daughter, Linda S. Rhyne and her husband, Dr. Craig Rhyne, Sr., of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Frederick Lee Smith and his wife Carol Ann of Goose Creek, Andrew C. Smith and his wife Donna of Mt. Pleasant, one sister Genewood Watson of Moncks Corner, four grandchildren, Dr. Craig Rhyne, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Joseph Rhyne, Austin Smith, Kimberly Ann Smith and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Smith was predeceased by his wife Regina B. Smith. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2008, at 1 p.m., at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC. Burial to follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 31, 2008, from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hibben United Methodist Church, 690 Coleman Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 or Hospice of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. Andy and Family,
I just found out about your father's passing only today from my Mom. I was talking to her on the phone when she mentioned it to me. Andy, I would have come had I known. I want to extend our sympathy to you and your family during this time of great loss and grief. May God give you strengh in the coming days ahead.
