Lawrence Loggins RAVENEL, SC - Lawrence Loggins, was a military veteran, whom lived in Ravenel, SC. He was born on April 1, 1938 in Riverside California to the late Mr. L Allen Loggins Sr and the late Mrs. Melva S Loggins. He departed this life and went home to meet with the Lord on August 29th 2015 at 5:30a.m. in a local nursing home. Lawrence was nicknamed "Bubba" in his early years and then "Larry" in his later years. Lawrence battled Dementia/Alzheimer for 9 years after which he was granted a much needed rest. Lawrence participated in building THE CHURCH of CHRIST on Edisto Island, SC; where he was a faithful member until his illness prevented him from attending. Lawrence served in the US Naval Reserve, the US Air Force as well as the US Army retiring with 24+ years of honorable services with the rank of First Sergeant (E-8). His primary duties were: Security Police and Military Police. Lawrence also held additional duties such as: Squad Leader, Platoon SGT (Sergeant), Non-Commissioned in Charge of Admin, Brigade Instructor, Section Sergeant of Military Police Security Specialist, Criminal & Traffic Accident Investigator, Public Safety Advisor, Operations/Training Sergeant, Intelligence SGT, Evidence Custodian, Firing Range Instructor, Drill Instructor and MP Desk SGT. He served at various stateside posts in Texas, Kansas, Georgia, Idaho, California, Louisiana, Pentagon, Washington DC, and Washington State where he met and married his beloved wife, Carolyn. Lawrence also served overseas in Korea, Vietnam, Okinawa, and Azores. AWARDS: the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Award, the Army Commendation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. As well as Letters of Commendation, Certificates of Achievement, Letter of Appreciation and Soldier of the Month. After retiring from the military Lawrence relocated to SC with his beloved wife Carolyn of 39 years and son Samuel in 1982 where he worked as a Sales Clerk in hardware and building supply on James Island, SC and Redtop, SC and as a Steamship Boarding Agent in Mt Pleasant SC. Lawerence's wife always spoke so highly of him, she felt so blessed that the Lord gave them the opportunity to share a life together. He was proficient in hardware, home repairs, and also auto repairs. He enjoyed repairing just about everything that you can think of. Brother: L Allen Loggins Jr. (Connie M), Southern CA, and Gary P Loggins Sr (Darleen) Fremont, CA. A sister proceeded him in death: Madge L Walker. Sister in Law: Queen E Williams (Otis) Ravenel SC. And Brother in Law: Ernest Brown Sr of Ravenel, SC. Step grands: Stacy Roddick (Tiara), Hinesville GA. Tracie Roddick-Nogues (John) Ft Campbell, KY, Darrell N S Roddick II, San Diego, CA. Jeanette N Roddick, Charleston, SC. Step greatgrands: Amari Wise, Julius and Khalil Roddick, Jaylen Rogers. A host of other relatives and friends. There will be a viewing, funeral service, military honors ceremony, and visitation/fellowship at the CHURCH of CHRIST at Edisto Island, SC Hwy 174, Edisto Island, SC 29438 on September 5th, 2015 starting at 10a.m. No wake service.
