Lauris Ackerman Obituary

ACKERMAN, SR., L. Lauris Laurie Ackerman, Sr., 72, former owner and operator of the Cavallero Club, died Monday, August 18, 2008 in a hospital in Walterboro, SC. He was born on April 27, 1936 in Charleston, SC the son of Laurie Lauris Ackerman and Louell Elizabeth Stanley Ackerman. Mr. Ackerman was a well known chef in the hospitality industry. He owned and operated Janet's Kitchen in the North area and also restaurants in California and Indiana. He is survived by his former spouse, Lettie Marie Ackerman of Greenwood, IN; son, Lauris Laurie Ackerman, Jr. and his wife, Michele of Bowling Green, KY; sister, Jeri Burke and her husband, Frank, of North Charleston, SC; brother, Bernard Ackerman and his wife, Judy, of Summerville, SC; two brothers-in-law, Curtis Fennel and Cleo Barrs, both of Goose Creek, SC; three granddaughters, Lauren, Allison and Alyssa Ackerman; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his brothers, James Ackerman, Johnny Ackerman, and Robert Ackerman; sisters, Linda Fennel, Roberta Griffin and her husband, Billy, and Joyce Barrs. The funeral services and burial will be held at Price Place Cemetery in Pontiac, MO under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville. Local arrangements by J.
