Laurence Ladue Obituary

Laurence Knight Ladue, Jr. COLUMBIA, SC - Funeral services for Laurence "Larry" K. Ladue, Jr., will be held at 2p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at St. Martin's In The Fields Episcopal Church, 5220 Clemson Avenue, Columbia, SC. Inurnment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Greenlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family. Larry was the son of the late Brigadier General Laurence K. Ladue, US Army and Caroline Hampton Mullally Ladue and was born in Arden, NC. He was a graduate of Christ School, Arden, NC and the University of South Carolina. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, Blue Key National Honor Fraternity and Kappa Sigma Kappa service fraternity. An ardent hunter and outdoorsman he was a former member of the Middleton Hunt Club, the Carolina Yacht Club, Charleston, SC and the Society of Colonial Wars and The State Agricultural and Mechanical Society of South Carolina. After returning to Columbia in 1985, he served 2 terms on the Richland County Zoning Board of Appeals and was Chairman for two years. After a career in banking and insurance in South Carolina and Georgia, he worked at the SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. Surviving are his daughters, Evelyn Ladue Wells (Douglas) of Charleston, Natasha Dendy Lambert of Columbia; sons, Laurence K. Ladue, III, of Awendaw, William J. Ladue of Charleston and Tyler W. Ladue (Heather) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Catherine Lane Ladue, William Rawlins Lowndes Ladue, Anne Emmaline Ladue, Mary Evelyn Lowndes Wells, Dohrman Hampton Preston Wells, Logan Knight Ladue, Hadley Ellen Ladue and Harper Lynnmarie Ladue; also several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ladue was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Mirse Ladue and sister, Caroline Ladue Mann. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to St. Martin's In The Fields Episcopal Church.
