Laura Van Swearingen Bartholow TRYON, NC - Laura Van Swearingen Bartholow, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 5, 2023, at the age of 62 in Tryon, North Carolina. She was born on December 6, 1960 in Norfolk, Virginia to Joseph and Lois Van Swearingen. Laura's warm and compassionate nature touched the lives of many, and her memory will forever be cherished. Laura's love for nature and spirituality was evident in every aspect of her life. She believed deeply in the power of healing energy and touch, which led her to pursue a career in massage therapy and teaching yoga. These were the works she was most passionate about, finding fulfillment in helping others find balance and peace. Laura's positivity and bright light shone through in all that she did, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to cross paths with her. Laura's friendship was a treasure to many. She maintained long-lasting bonds with those she grew close to, always showing unwavering love and support. To be Laura's friend was to be loved fiercely. Her devotion to her spouse, children, and grandchild was unwavering and formed the center of her being. Laura also had a special connection with dogs, forming unbreakable bonds with her beloved pets throughout the years. It was as if they could sense her inner beauty and gentle soul, always choosing her as their person. In addition to her husband, Barry Bartholow, Laura is survived by her father, Joseph Van Swearingen, her sons, Kevin Maginn and Scott Maginn, her sister, Lynda Orndorff, her daughter-in-law, Anna Maginn, and her granddaughter, Evelyn Maginn. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Van Swearingen, and her brother, Joey Van Swearingen. Outside of her career and relationships, Laura found joy in various hobbies. She was an avid potter, finding solace and creativity in the art form. Exploring the beauty of nature through hiking, meditating, and spending time with her dogs brought her peace and tranquility. Laura also cherished her time with dear friends and enjoyed listening to live music, which filled her heart with joy. A celebration of Laura Van Swearingen Bartholow's life will take place on July 23rd at the Tall Pine Shelter at Palmetto Island's County Park at 2 PM. It will be a time for family and friends to come together, share stories, and honor the beautiful soul that Laura was. Laura will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she shine on in eternal peace.
