Larry Reece Obituary

Larry Dean Reece SUMMERVILLE - Larry Dean Reece, 71, of Summerville, husband of Carlene Reece, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Larry was born on October 22, 1943 in Eldora, IA, son of the late Lawrence Reece and Irene Reinert. Larry graduated from Hubbard High School and went to work for Reece Truckline in New Providence, IA. Larry served in the National Guard for six years. He then moved to Carlisle, IA where he was employed by Yellow Freight System in Des Moines, IA for 30 years. After retiring in 1999, the family moved to South Carolina to be close to his son and grandchildren. Larry was a loving husband and wonderful father to his daughter, Kimberly. Surviving in addition to his wife Carlene are: one daughter: Kimberly Reece of Summerville, SC; one son: Vincent J. Van Houten of Summerville, SC; two grandchildren: Nick Van Houten and Dana Van Houten and their mother Sarah Williams of Summerville; three brothers: Kent Reinert (Tracy) of Union, IA, Kurt Reinert (Connie) of Marshalltown, IA and Steve Reece of Union, IA; one sister: Valerie Lubbert (Larry) of Marshalltown, IA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepdad, Wallace C. Reinert. A short service will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 2 o'clock PM at Peterson Funeral Home, Carlisle, IA. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery, DesMoines, IA, following the service. Arrangements being handled by Peterson Funeral Home, Carlisle, IA.
