Larry Hudson Obituary

Larry Landy Hudson RUFFIN, SC - Mr. Larry Landy Hudson, age 64, of Bells Cross Roads in Ruffin, entered into eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, May 31, 2016, at the Roper Hospital in Charleston. Funeral services will be conducted 11 o'clock Friday morning, June 3, 2016, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Cheri Yates officiating. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro. The family has requested the Worshipful Master and members of Bells Masonic Lodge, No. 236 - A.F.M. to serve as honorary escorts and their presence is requested at The Funeral Chapel at 10:30 that morning. Born October 3, 1951, in Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of Mrs. Lenora Smyly Hudson Keegan and the late Mr. Augustus Ulmer Hudson. He served in the South Carolina National Guard. Following thirty-three years of faithful service to the Savannah River Site, he retired as a superintendent, and also enjoyed farming. He was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church - Ruffin Charge, and was a forty-year life member and past master of Bells Masonic Lodge, No. 236 - Ancient Free Masons. Outside of farming, fishing was his great pastime. Larry will always be remembered for the love he possessed for his family, his never ending sense of humor, and the great joy he had in his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his mother of Walterboro are: his wife of forty-six years, Mrs. Lynn Thomas Hudson; two children, Shane Hudson and his wife Allison Zander Hudson of Ruffin and Tina Hudson Haley of Ruffin; and a brother, Ronald Hudson of Ruffin. There are four grandchildren, Brantley Hudson, Hannah Haley, Hunter Hudson, and Shelby Haley; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Beatrice Thomas of Walterboro and a sister-in-law, Tammy Wingo of Bluffton that also survive. Flowers will be accepted, or for those that so desire, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Colleton County Relay For Life, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406. Family and friends are invited to call during a time of visitation which will be held Thursday evening from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock at THE BRICE W. I am a better person by knowing, working with and most importantly offshore fishing with Larry. I wouldn't trade those experiences and memories for anything. Maybe kept him from eating the state record blackfish he caught. May God bless and keep you and your family. - Ben Young

Sorry for your loss. I worked with Larry for long time at srs.Larry was a lot of fun to be around. You never knew what he was going to do next.
