Larry Sumner Giles, Sr. Summerville, SC - Mr. Larry Sumner Giles Sr, 86, of Summerville SC passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 6, 2021 at the Jesse Helms Center in Monroe NC. He was born in Rock Hill SC on December 17, 1934 as the youngest son of Leeanna Wilson Giles and Benjamin F Giles. He was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. He served in the U. S. Air Force for three years and was stationed in Germany. Larry married the love of his life, Jofreida Gordon Giles of Rock Hill SC. They enjoyed 54 beautiful years of marriage prior to Jofreida's passing in 2016. Larry loved his family. When he married Jofreida they moved to Greenville SC and then to Charleston SC to start his business, Palmetto Mortgage, which he led for over 50 years. A graveside service will be held at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill SC on Tuesday March 9, 2021 at 11am. Larry is survived by his daughter Marianne Giles Wescoat (Tim) of Monroe NC, his son Gil Giles of Summerville SC, his 5 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren and his sister Judy Parrish (Gerald) of Rock Hill SC. The family would especially like to thank Hospice of Union County, The Jesse Helms Center and the many healthcare professionals, family and friends who gave loving support throughout his illness.
