Larry Altman Obituary

Larry L. Altman CHARLESTON - Larry L. Altman, 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Monday, October 17, 2022 while in his home on James Island. All services will be private. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel. Larry was born September 17, 1940 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Alton and Maybelle Hartley Altman. He was a goal-driven, hard working entrepreneur who built many houses on James Island as well as owned a successful utility and trucking company. Larry married Peggy Hewett from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on December 4, 1961. They raised two children and he played a major role in their two granddaughters' lives over the years. Larry was a proud Paw Paw. He served as a deacon at his local church for many years, where he guided numerous people as they accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed watching the Alabama college football games alongside his wife. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy A. Altman; daughter, Kimberly A. Dyer; son, Shannon D. Altman; two granddaughters and sons-in-law: Jay and Kayce Peltier and Kylan and Kelsey Harville; four great-granddaughters: Brielle Peltier, Samara Peltier, and Brooke Harville. Larry was predeceased by his twin sons and beloved great-granddaughter, Emma Blyss Peltier. Flowers, donations and condolences may be offered at 1410 Jeffords Street, Charleston, SC 29412.
