My condolences to the family. I worked with JR on the National Council of Young Leaders and I have grown to love him and his passion for community and criminal justice issues. He was a part of our family and we will miss his amazing spirit. The Council vows to soldier on and continue the work on the issues that were important to JR. J.R. did not realize his health was falling fast,
He kept a happy spirit telling stories of the past.
He spoke of the good times and the fun things he had done,
But he gave credit where credit was due, not leaving out anyone.
Our friend is gone, his life cut short because he passed away,
And the world is a little poorer because our friend died the other day.
J.R.'s inviting spirit made him a very special guy.
He'll be mourned by many, so let me tell you why,
Blessed by the Father while quietly going his own way,
But the world won't note his passing, though our friend died today.
J. R. was quite a character; his wit was off the chain
He'd keep you laughing no matter what, he was utterly insane.
But if you were in danger, with your enemies at hand,
He'd be there at your side with his ever-shifting stand.
If we cannot do him honor when he was here to hear the praise,
Then let us give him homage at the ending of his days.
Perhaps a simple tribute that would kindly say, Our friend has gone to heaven because he died the other day.
