Kirkland Beck Obituary

Kirkland Kenneth Beck was born on December 20, 1940, in Norfolk, Virginia. He was the beloved son of Bernard M. Beck and Regina Beck. Kirkland attended high school in Lancaster, NY and excelled in diving, golf, and football, lettering in all three sports. After earning an associate degree in civil engineering, Kirkland proudly served his country as a combat engineer in the United States Army. His service displayed his strength, resilience, and dedication, traits that remained with him throughout his life. Following his military service, Kirkland continued to apply his work ethic as a civil engineer with the Department of Transportation for the State of New York. Kirkland was also highly involved in the Civil Air Patrol. In 1966, Kirkland married the love of his life, Ruby Beck. Their 59-year marriage was a shining example of love, partnership, and support. Together, they built a life full of shared adventures and deep connection. Kirkland had a love for life that took him far beyond work and duty. He found joy in traveling the world, going on cruises with Ruby, and spending time in nature hunting and fishing. He embraced the outdoors and the peace it brought him, always ready for the next adventure or challenge. Kirkland's legacy is one of strength, service, loyalty, and love. He will be remembered for his warm heart, determination, and his devotion to family and country. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby Beck; his children: Rhonda Beck and Shannon Gilbert (Brian); five beloved grandchildren; eight beloved great grandchildren; as well as his brother, David Hajduk. Military honors will be held at Beaufort National Cemetery on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, beginning at 11:00am.
