Kimberley Quenneville Obituary

DUXBURY - Kimberley L. Quenneville, 52, of Duxbury, passed away in the comfort of her home and family following a long and courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday evening, Oct. 12, 2010. Born in Burlington Feb. 5, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Wayne R. and Elizabeth J. (Sollace) Lewis. On Jan. 17, 1981, Kim married Thomas Quenneville in Waitsfield.

A lifelong resident of Duxbury, Kim was a 1976 graduate of Harwood Union High School. She continued her education, graduating from the Vermont College of Cosmetology after which she owned and operated The Cutting Company in Montpelier. Following her marriage, she and Tom built their home in Duxbury and she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising their children. For the past 13 years, Kim has worked for the Crossett Brook Middle School in Duxbury where she was the planning room coordinator and instructional assistant.

Kim enjoyed being outdoors surrounded by nature: the birds, her flowers, gardening and spending time at their camp. She will be fondly remembered for her devotion and love for her family. Kim also had a passion for all children, helping them be happy and successful. All those who have gotten to know her will miss her dearly.

Kim is survived by her husband of 29 years, Thomas Quenneville of Duxbury; their children, Megan Elliott and her husband Justin of Moretown, Cody Quenneville and Ira Quenneville, both of Duxbury; her grandchildren, Dominic Elliott and twins, Natalia and Damien Elliott; a brother, Kirk Lewis of Whitefield N.H.; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated from St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury Monday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow in the church parish hall. Friends may call at the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. Inurnment will be in Phillips Cemetery in Duxbury. The family requests flowers be omitted; rather memorial gifts would be appreciated to Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre VT 05641 (www.cvhhh.org.), or to the National Life Cancer Treatment Center, PO Box 547, Barre VT 05641. Those who mean the most to us
Are never really gone.
For in our thoughts and in our hearts
Their memory still lives on
So may you find that passing time
Can somehow help to heal
Those memories will ease the loss
And sorrow that you feel

We couldnt begin to imagine what you are all feeling. Our heart goes out to you during this sad time. Hold tight to your family and friends, and hold dear the memories that keep her alive in your hearts.

Life is eternal, and love is immortal, Death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing but the limit of our sight.

XOXOXOXO

The world may never notice
If a Snowdrop doesn't bloom,
Or even pause to wonder
If the petals fall too soon.

But every life that ever forms,
Or ever comes to be,
Touches the world in some small way
For all eternity.

The little one we longed for
Was swiftly here and gone.
But the love that was then planted
Is a light that still shines on.

And though our arms are empty,
Our hearts know what to do.
Every beating of our hearts
Says that we love you.

I remember what a character Kim was in high school. Aways spunky, happy...and "up to something".
I am so very sorry to hear of losing her.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all who's lives she touched.

Kim, I will miss you very much, you always gave me warm hugs when I saw you. You knew me why better than I could know you because you changed my diapers and all that jazzy stuff at daycare. You saw me grow into the young lady I am today. I know you always treated all your daycare kids as your children. I use to call you my kimmy. You always made the days fun and I have tons of memories from growing up and being there. I'm going to cherish all the home videos me and my family have of you at birthday parties of my brother and I. It seemed as if you got great joy out of leading the pack of children hitting the pinatas. The videos are soo cute. I really enjoyed my middle school years having you in the school right there with me. I'll never forget you. I love you very much. Thoughts and prayers go out to your family. I'll never forget that you'll always be my Kimmy.

Dear Tom, Ira, Meghan and Cody,

Kim, or Mrs. Q. as she was known to all, was truly a special lady. I marveled at how easily she related with kids. There were times when a student was having an issue and wouldn't respond to the classroom teacher (or even to me!), but when Mrs. Q. arrived, the student would gladly go with Kim, work through an issue and get back to class. Kim knew that the key to success was in building and in maintaining relationships. I will never forget how she always put aside her needs in favor of others. Her impact with kids was far-reaching; rest assured, the many fond memories of her will live on.
Best,

Always Near as You Walk Along the Lakeshore

And I am no longer with you
Let no tears fall or sorrow prevail
When you see your reflection shimmer in the water
Smile and know that I see your smile
When you feel the cool grass beneath your feet
And the sun's warmth upon your back
Know that I feel it also
When you hear the leaves rustling in the wind
Know it is my voice softly whispering to you
When you see a butterfly dancing among flowers
Know that I am dancing also
When you gently touch a puppy's soft fur
Know that I too feel your touch
When the wind swirls across your skin
Know that it is I who caresses you
When you love another
Know that I too feel your love
These words are truth, my love
Have faith, my love
As long as beauty lives upon the earth and in the stars
And love lives in every beat of every heart
So then do I
So then do we all.

Tommy, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Losing someone from your high school years brings the reality of life close to home- I handn't seen her often in the past few years, but she always had a bright smile when she saw me. Hold close your family and you will see that bright smile reflected in their faces. Above all, take care of yourself- for Kim.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

I met Kim when we both attended Vermont College of Cosmetology in 1976. I remember her telling me how she went home every weekend to help her boyfriend gather logs for a log home they wanted to build. I was so amazed at her energy and commitment and at such a young age! I ran into Kim again in 1993 at my husband’s Harwood reunion and she told me the log home did get built and she loved her life as wife and mom. My memory of Kim will always be that she was hard working, compassionate and very, very giving. It makes me so sad that someone so young and so full of life is no longer with us. My heart goes out to all her family and friends. She touched us all.

I will always remember Kim trimming my hair.. her perfume of perm and hair coloring... I will remember her laugh and quick smile, along with her stern face, just before the grin. It was an honor to know her and she will be missed dearly. Tommy and kids, my heart is with you, may the upcoming days remind you of how much she is loved, and may that bring you comfort in your loss.

Tommy, Ira, Cody and Megan, Justin, Dominic, Natalia and Damien,
I was saddened to hear that Kim lost her battle but I know she is at peace.

I will remember her fondly for all the years of her "Girl Scout Mom" support and assistance. She was a remarkable woman and always ready to lend a hand. I will always smile when I remember "Camp Quenneville" and the many weekends up there with the girls. Early mornings and late evenings by the fire were a favorite for the girls and Kim was a vital part of the time spent at camp.

She was "Mom Q" to many and our honorary Girl Scout co-leader for many years. We will all miss Kim dearly!

Love, Sheila
