Kevin Godley-Neumayer Obituary

Kevin Godley-Neumayer JACKSONBORO - Kevin Mark Godley-Neumayer, 40, of Hope Plantation in Jacksonboro, entered into his state of eternal rest Tuesday evening, January 26, 2010. Kevin was born January 14, 1970 in Cleveland, Ohio. He moved to Charleston, SC, to be with his family when he was a teenager. He eventually traveled to Columbia , SC, where he met many of his closest friends and started to fine tune his career as a painter and sculptor. He married his wife on December 8, 1997, and moved to Jacksonboro, SC. He loved living on the plantation; he enjoyed working outdoors, taking care of the animals, "diggin'" (as he called it) for artifacts; hunting and fishing; spending time with their dog, Precious; and taking his art career to new heights. His favorite place to go was Disney World; he and Kristy made several trips a year there. Due to the inspiration from farm life, his paintings became larger than life in color, detail, and subject matter. Kevin was a most generous soul and often showed his love through hand-made gifts and gifts of his time. To quote a friend who posted on Facebook about this moment in his life, "I think the world should stop and take note that a troubled angel has left the planet. My heart is broken. I will miss your warm smile and your art, Kevin. You were too pure for this world." Kevin is survived by his wife, Kristy Godley-Neumayer of Jacksonboro; his brothers, Frankie, David and Ridgi Neumayer of Charleston, SC; and Tim Bright of Columbia, SC; his sister, Petra Neumayer and his father, Peter Neumayer, both of Charleston, SC; cousins, Richard, Susan and Lauren Codispoti, of Charleston, SC; and his family of the last 12 years: his father and mother-in-law, Johnny and Carolyn Godley, Amy and David Freeman, all of Jacksonboro, SC; Pam and Terron Roberts of Walterboro, SC; many nieces, nephews and countless friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to an organization that is very close to the family's heart: Darkness to Light Foundation, 7 Radcliffe Street, Suite 200, Charleston, SC 29403; or donate at www.darknesstolight.org. Memorial messages and thoughts of condolence maybe shared with the Godley and Neumayer families by visiting: www.briceherndonfuneralhome.com Kevin will be laid to rest in a private graveside ceremony at Godley Family Cemetery at Crawl Creek Plantation in Jacksonboro. The family will receive friends during a public time of remembrance on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 this Friday evening at the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, Walterboro Chapel, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro. 843-538-5408. Visit our guestbook at www.postandcourier.com/deaths
