Kenneth Waggoner Obituary

Kenneth Franklin Waggoner, Sr. ST. GEORGE - Kenneth Franklin "Kenny" Waggoner, Sr., 77, of 130 Kenlo Lane, Dorchester, widower of Lois W. Waggoner, died Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Trident Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday evening, August 24, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the Lovely Hill Convention Center with Pastor Craig Crosby officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 PM until the time of service. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at the St. George Memorial Gardens. Mr. Kenny was born on March 8, 1934 a son of the late Bernard Lee and Katie Mae Franklin Waggoner. He was a graduate of West High School in Knoxville, Tennessee and was a retired employee of Norfolk Southern Railroad serving as a Ranger at Brosnan Forest for 30 years. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was first elected to the Dorchester County Council in 1976 and served continuously until 2010 serving as Chairman, vice-chairman and on numerous other committees. In 2001, the county named the Kenneth F. Waggoner Services Building in his honor. He was a member of the Egeria Masonic Lodge, Omar Shrine Temple and the Democratic Party. He was predeceased by a son, James Gregory Waggoner, brothers, Bernard Lee "Beefy" Waggoner, Jr. and William Scott Waggoner. Surviving are two sons, Jefferey G. (Jeannie) Waggoner, St. George and Kenneth F. (Gabrielle`) Waggoner, Jr., Sumter; two daughters, Beverly W. (Chip) Lucas, Ladson and Donna M. (Levi) Waggoner-Mizell, Bowman; daughter-in-law, Maude B. Waggoner, St. George; a brother, George Washington Waggoner, Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Dale (Robin) Waggoner, Bryan (Lisa) Waggoner, Christopher Waggoner, Nicholas Waggoner, all of St. George, Greg (Felicia) Waggoner, Knoxville, Gary (Karen) Waggoner, Emily Waggoner, Carolina Waggoner, Joseph Waggoner and Seth Waggoner, all of Sumter and Tyler Lucas of Ladson; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Addisyn, Easton, Harley, Kenly, Dagan, Drennen, Darby and Gary, Jr.; a sisters-in-law, Mary Waggoner and Annette Welchel; a special nephew, Bobby Waggoner and a special niece, Brenda Waggoner, all of Knoxville, TN.
