Kenneth Clark Obituary

Kenneth Gilbert Clark CHARLESTON - Kenneth Gilbert Clark passed away on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 at the age of 63. He was born in High Point, NC to George P. Clark, Jr. and Charlotte Anderson Clark, who preceded him in death. Self-supporting at an early age, Ken worked while pursuing his BS in Social Studies Education, then taught for a number of years in the Charleston County School System before entering the hospitality industry. Knowledgeable, friendly, courteous and discreet, Ken applied these skills in the hotel's catering bar service for many years before becoming a valuable member of the club level staff at the Belmond Charleston Place. Ken held strong principles: even his family could not pry tales from him about encounters with celebrities and guests of renown. Ken's most outstanding trait was a truly generous and loving heart. He was passionate about issues of social justice, our changing climate, and care for creatures great and small. He especially treasured his beloved dogs, music, time spent in the Smokey Mountains, fantasy football and golf, and Duke Basketball. Ken cared deeply about others and was the best friend a person could want. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ken is survived by his wife, Frances Gardner; his former spouse and lifelong friend, Sarah Fitzgerald; siblings, Priscilla C. Tillett (Robert) of Louisville, KY, and George P. Clark, III (Dorothy) of Durham, NC; nieces, Kathryn Tillett, Arden Clark Mills, nephews, James Tillett, Patrick Clark, and their families. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at a later date. He would be greatly honored by a gift to an animal rescue organization or any random act of kindness. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

The last I heard from you was New Year´s Eve. You said you´re health issues were reoccurring but you were on your way into work. That was the last I heard from you. I´ve been trying to text you over the past couple days but kept getting a message saying you weren´t accepting messages. Now I know why. No one ever called me to tell me that you passed. You were my friend for 22 years. I hope heaven has a fantasy football some good beers and lots of animals for you to play with. Thank you for always being there for me! Thank you for being the best friend that I ever had!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family. Ken was so kind hearted and a generous person would help anyone that needed it. We missed him a lot when he lefted the cul de sac many years ago and always happy to see him when he would come by. Rest in peace dear friend you will be surely missed

My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the family as you mourn the passing of this fine man. I had the pleasure of knowing Ken through my daughter who worked with him. He always had a smile and kind words for me. God´s blessings. Lori
