Kathy Coder Obituary

Kathy McEvoy Coder Wadmalaw Island - Kathy would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer she could not refuse. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing and listening to Elvis while decorating her numerous Christmas trees. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left detailed instructions for her family and friends to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. With that, the family of Kathleen "Kathy" McEvoy Coder, 71, announces her passing. Kathy was surrounded by family on July 24, 2021, when she went home to be with our Lord. Kathy was born, raised and lived her beautiful life in Charleston, SC. She was preceded in death by her father, John Joseph McEvoy, and her mother, Elizabeth Schwarz. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Patricia Lord, Gary LaMunion (Kari), Jim Hart (Maria), Joe Hart (Holly), Sherry Crabtree (Darrell); grandchildren, Hayden LaMunion, Katelyn Hart, Kelsie Blake-Weeks, Brittany Lord, Joshua Hart, Addisen Crabtree, Khloe Hart and Reagan Hart; four great-grandchildren and countless amazing friends that she considered as family. Kathy's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3871 Betsy Kerrison Parkway, Johns Island. Kathy attended and worked at Holy Spirit for almost 20 years. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 11:00 AM. The family invites you to come share your memories and laughs (Kathy would want nothing less). Arrangements by James A. McAlister, 1620 Savannah Highway, (843) 766-1365. We sure do miss Kathy at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was an extremely generous lady with a great sense of humor and would give you the shirt off her back. I think of her every week my family attends Mass and her usual spot where she would sit during Saturday Vigil Mass.

Jim, Trish, Brittany and Family,

Very sad news we received last week. Sad to see Kathy go but grateful she is no longer in pain. Now she is resting in the arms of our Lord. Kathy was always very generous to our family, especially our 2 daughters. I will remember her laugh, her kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity. My deepest condolences and prayers for your family.
