Kathryn "Kitty" Godman Gordy CHARLESTON - Kathryn "Kitty" Godman Gordy, 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Monday, July 17, 2023. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 31, 2023, in the Christ Episcopal Church, 2304 Hwy 17N, Mt. Pleasant, SC, at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow the service. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. Kitty was born December 13, 1938 in Hagerstown, Maryland, the daughter of the late Raymond Godman and the late Laura Carmack Johnson. She was a graduate of The University of Maryland, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She started her career as a teacher but was most known for her philanthropy work. She remained active with her sorority throughout her life, was a Junior League member, and was dedicated to fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In recent years, she was a volunteer at East Cooper Meals on Wheels. Kitty was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church and enjoyed attending weekly and holiday services. She loved traveling with her husband, Lee, Broadway musicals, book clubs and playing cards with her friends. She will be remembered for the way she loved her family. She is survived by daughter, Kathryn Gordy Novakovic (Donny) of Hermosa Beach, CA; brother, Raymond Godman of Richmond, VA; and her grandson, Reis Novakovic. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee Nesbitt Gordy and their son, Kenneth Gordy.
