Kathleen Cunningham Obituary

GARDINER -- Kathleen A. Cunningham, 90, formerly of Gardiner, died Friday July 1, 2011, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with her family at her side. She was born Jan. 25, 1921, in Gardiner, a daughter of William and Ann Corcoran Luttrell.

Kay was a legal secretary for George and Henry Heselton and retired from VA Togus after 35 years. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gardiner. She volunteered her time for many years at the Gardiner Food Bank and Meals on Wheels at Cohen Center.

She enjoyed golf and was especially proud of the hole in one she scored at the Western View Golf Course.

She was predeceased by her husband, Neal Cunningham in 2003.

Kay is survived by her son, David Cunningham, and his wife, Rhonda, of Farmingdale; her daughter, Sharon Proctor of Wiscasset; her sister, Agnes Dow, and her husband, George, of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren: Anne Zurbay, Kathleen Proctor, Melissa Skovronsky and her husband, John, David Cunningham and his wife, Ashley, and Amanda Cunningham; two great-granddaughters Savannah and Mallory Cunningham and a great-grandson, Ryan McElderry.

A private graveside service will be held at the family lot in St. Joseph Cemetery Gardiner.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Gardiner Public Library or Maine Make A Wish Foundation.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Woodlands Assisted Living Center in Hallowell for their care and concern throughout the past seven years given to our mother.

Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
