Katheryn Johnson Isle of Palms - Katheryn "Kathy" Johnson, wife of L. Gerald Johnson of the Isle of Palms, was a caring wife, mother, GaGa, sister, and friend. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family on January 22, 2022. Her graveside service will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022, in Thames Family Cemetery, 190 Thames Cemetery Rd., Varnville, SC 29944, at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends in the Charleston area, Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. Kathy was born in Hampton, SC, on April 18, 1947. After graduating from high school, she attended Winthrop University and later began an accounting career with McKnight Frampton in 1968. Her career culminated in 2018 with Bloomin' Apple, LLC. Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Hooker, and brother, Gerald Hooker. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gerald; three children, Casandra Johnson Bell (Jimmy), Carl Johnson, and Cayton Johnson (Robin); sister, June Bilka (Jimmy); sister-in-law, Opal Hooker; and six grandchildren, Loren Bell, Katheryn Rose Bell, Ava Johnson (and her mother, Angela Johnson), Annabelle Johnson, Colton Johnson, and Charleston Bell. The family respectfully requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Hollings Cancer Center, 86 Jonathan Lucas Street, First Floor, Director's Suite, MSC Code: 955, Charleston, SC 29425, or Windwood Farm Home for Children and Family Services, 4857 Windwood Farm Rd., Awendaw, SC 29429.
