Katherine Williams Obituary

Katherine "Kay" Williams Johns Island - Katherine "Kay" Walpole Williams, 88, of Pinopolis, formerly of Johns Island, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2021. Kay was born July 4, 1932 in Charleston, a daughter of Charles Walter Williams and Rosa Walpole Williams. A graduate of St. Andrews High School and member of St. Johns Parish Church, Kay was a spirited person who loved life. She was very out-going and never met a stranger. Kay loved the Low Country and enjoyed "stomping the earth with her cousins when she was young." She had a heart for nature and animals and enjoyed traveling and shopping. Kay had been employed as a secretary for Westvaco and for Dr. Darby of the Medical University of South Carolina. She will be sadly missed by the family she loved so dear as well as a host of friends from far and wide. Kay is survived by her sister, Elliott Williams Bishop of Pinopolis; nieces, Francis Sorenson, Elliott West and Martha Pitman; nephews, George Bishop and Dennis Bishop; many great- nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Mary Selby Sorenson. A graveside service will be held in Johns Island Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 2550 Bohicket Road, Johns Island, SC 29455, Saturday morning April 24, 2021 at 11 o'clock, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner. Oh, what fun Kay was! Was so glad to reconnect and see her some again until the pandamic. (I am Eloise Lanier Taylor's daughter, Susie Dodson's niece.)
