Mrs. McCray's celebration had the hallmarks of her life, beauty, quiet efficiency, shared words of inspiration with meaning for all, great food for the repast, memories of her dedication to family, church, and community. Beautiful and moving.

To Jack and Family,
Aunt Liz is the sister, not well herself, who visits her brother (John) one last time before God calls him home. Aunt Liz is the sister-in-law, who despite her own physical infirmities, comes to grieve with us when our son and brother (John Jr.) is suddenly taken home to God 12 days later. Aunt LIz is the one who always asked "Do I have anything you want?" and meant it. For this and so many other memories she will always be lovingly remembered. May God Bless and strenghten you in your bereavement.

To Jack & the McCray Family,
The officers and members of Emanuel AMEC and my family extend to each of you our deepest sympathy over the lost of Mrs. McCray. I will always remember her as my school crossing guard at Buist School as a child and as a mentor and diligent church worker at Mother Emanuel. Know that we are here for you in any capacity needed. May it comfort you to remember that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Mrs. Katherine Elizabeth McCray was a devoted wife and mother, a committed church member, a dedicated community worker, a tireless servant of her community in so many ways, through the long course of her days. Her works and faith truly speak for her life, so fully lived, so widely cast in good works and well doing. The fullness of her life was measured by its breath, by her faith in God and the love of her family. May the One whose gifts are the true measure of his eternal call, open his kind hands in praise of the return and rest of one of his own saints. May she now know and be granted the eternal grace and blessings of glory.

To The Family and Friends of Mrs. Liz McCray. "Miss Liz was an icon in our neighborhood. She watched ever so carefully for many years over each child, I knew if I did wrong, she would tell my mother. She was a dear friend of many quiet and meek in spirit she was. I can remember her in uniform a regal woman who wore and did her job with such pride. "Miss Liz" is now teaching the angels how to watch carefully in heaven over us on earth.

My family extends its prayers to you at this difficult time. Mrs. McCray was a fixture in the downtown school district for years. Not only did she keep us safe walking to and from school, she expected manners and so much more from each of us. Her presence will live on in the hearts and minds of so many who knew and respected her. Lean on God for comfort.
