Katherine "Kathy" Marie Buntyn Maxon Hollywood, SC - Katherine "Kathy" Marie Buntyn Maxon, of Hollywood, South Carolina, wife of James "Jim" Fuller Maxon entered into eternal rest on July 5, 2016. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, July 9, in Old St. Andrews Parish Church, 2604 Ashley River Road at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow immediately in the churchyard. The family will receive friends Friday in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Kathy was born February 8, 1958 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She is the daughter of Marie Tramonte Buntyn and the late Walter Buntyn. She graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and was a nationally certified CT Technician, working most recently for Roper St. Francis in Charleston. In addition to loving the work she did with her patients and co-workers at Roper, Kathy also had a passion for photography and was a gifted photographer. Most importantly to her, though, Kathy was a loving wife, mother and daughter. She dearly loved her extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, the friends that she had known since childhood and those she met throughout her adult life. Kathy was an active member of Old St. Andrews Parish Church. Kathy is survived by her mother, Marie Tramonte Buntyn of Lake Charles, LA; husband, James "Jim" Fuller Maxon of Hollywood, SC; daughter, Jessica Leigh Killinger (Josh) of Boulder, CO; son Austin Scott Chapman of Baton Rouge, LA; brother, Gary Buntyn of Lafayette, LA; two step-sons, Chris Maxon (Marjorie) of Greer, SC and Curt Maxon of Hendersonville, NC; step-daughter Paige M. Kupferer (Jim) of Simpsonville, SC; and four grandchildren, Caroline, Alex, Marianne and Chatham. Pallbearers will be Kathy's lifelong childhood friends from Louisiana: Sharon Arnett, Susan Blake, Debbie Fralix, Judy Lavergne, Pam Manceaux, Dwan Singleton, and Cindy Trahan. The family would like to thank all the professionals at Roper St. Francis Cancer Center, especially Dr. Keough, Roper/St. Francis Hospice and the Charleston Hematology Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lowcountry Affiliate of Susan G. Komen, 50 Folly Road., Charleston, SC 29407 or Old St. Andrews Parish Church, 2604 Ashley River Road., Charleston, SC 29414.
