Kate Culbertson Obituary

Kate Moody Culbertson SUMTER, SC - Kate Moody Culbertson, 90, widow of Charles Burts Culbertson, went to be with the Lord, Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 19, 2009, in Sumter, SC. Born in Dillon County, she was a daughter of the late Alton Moody and the late Sally Hayes Moody. Mrs. Culbertson was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church in Charleston and was a member of Drayton on the Ashley Garden Club. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and was a retired Charleston County school teacher. Survivors include a son, Charles B. "Chuck" Culbertson, Jr. (Debbie) of Laurens; a daughter, Jean C. Lewis (Barry) of Sumter; four grandchildren, Andrew Charles Culbertson (Emily), Jennifer Landon (Jacob), Katie Kerechanin (Andy), and Elizabeth Lewis; and a sister, Ruth Fetner of CA. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurens with the Rev. Charles Clanton and the Rev. Marcus Bishop officiating.
