Maestro: That lovely face leaped out of the newspaper at me, and I remembered it from a happy summer evening on Kiawah Island, when I first met Karen sitting with her children on a blanket in front of the podium. Your symphony family shares your pain. May her spirit stay with you and comfort you.

David: Your beautiful wife, Karen, has returned to the Source and Giver of Life through the process we call death. You do realize that death is a paradox - the portal through which we enter the stream of eternal life. Bid her a "Good-night/morning," as the darkness of what appears to be death has turned to full light. She lives on in another realm. "Though her soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect Light; she loved the stars too fondly, to be fearful of the night."
My prayers go with you all. My children, especially Bobby, sends his love to you all.

Maestro Stahl--
I sang with the CSO Chorus for a season, and was always touched by the dignity and grace you treated us with. My prayer for you is that you are treated with the same respect in the difficult days ahead, as you and your family find your way.

Blessings, sir.

Most respectfully yours,

Maestro Stahl,

It saddens me greatly to hear of your loss and of the very difficult times you and your family are experiencing. Someone else has already mentioned the words that come to my mind but they are so powerful that reading these words a second time may help. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. I pray that remembering all you and Karen have shared will sustain you and your family as you move forward. She is always with you.
