I knew Karen from Ashley Hall and we were all so excited when she would invite us out to the big house on the naval base for the weekend. I ate my first oyster at the insistence of Captain Scanland. We kept in touch with phone calls and visits for quite a while but as the years piled up that happened less and less. My sincere sympathies to her family on her passing. Hersha (Bryant) Hatchett

For anyone who had the privilege of knowing Karen, you know what a SPECIAL person she was. We worked, played, vacationed, laughed and sometimes cried together for almost 40 years. She and her children are my family too. I will FOREVER miss her. Her legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren that she adores.

My love and deepest sympathy to Karen´s beloved husband Frank and all the family. Although my heart is hurting, the memories of raising our children together and the special bond Karen and I had give me comfort. Rest in peace, beloved friend.
