My condolences to the family of Kalo. Very shocked and sad to have learned the news about Kalo. I met Kalo through a mutual friend in Atlanta and we lost touch with one another. It was around 1999 and she had an uncle who also lived in the metro area. Kalo had crossed my mine several times and I was driven to search her via the internet to learn of her whereabouts. To my dismay, she was no longer living. I am still in a state of shock. I am sorry that I let 10 plus years go by before trying to reconnect with you. You will be missed. Through the ups and downs and the good and bad...love conquers all. I am grateful to have known and learned so much from you. I love you Kalo RIP.

I will always remember & treasure the conversations Kalo & I had. I will keep her in a special place in my heart. Eternal love to Kalo.

That bright smile always made my day a little better - you could do that even as a middle school student. I feel certain that you touched so many lives with that joyous smile and made each life a little better.

I can't find the right words but it's important to me that I attempt to convey my thoughts, feelings and aspirations for you...so here's my offer of an outstretched hand to grasp; a willing ear to listen; my favorite prayer to recite and most cherished memory of such a singular, free-spirited individual to recollect whenever you're ready...especially after the crowd is gone. KALO WOW IT SHOCKED ME TO HEAR THAT YOU ARE GONE. I REMEMBER THAT LAST FRIDAY AT WORK MY PHONE WENT OF AND IT WAS YOU CALLING ME BUT I COULDN'T ANSWER I WAS AT WORK DIDN'T KNOW THAT WAS YOUR LAST TIME CALLING ME. BUT I MUST ADMIT YOU ALWAYS HAD A SMILE ON YOUR FACE EVERY TIME I SEE YOU. YOU WILL BE MISSED FROM COMING INTO PIGGLY WIGGLY GETTING YOUR LUNCH EVERY DAY. EVERY ONE IN THE DELI USE TO CALL YOU THE SUN SHADE LADY EVERY TIME YOU WALK IN THEY WOULD SAY RUTH YOUR FRIEND IS HERE. EVERY TIME I SERVED YOU I DIDN'T HAD TO ASK YOU WHAT YOU WANT COS YOU WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE SAME REDRICE AND FRIED CHICKEN WHITE MEAT. WHEN I TOLD TTHEM LAST WEEK THAT YOU HAD PASSED AWAY EVERY ONE WAS SO HURT COS WE WOULD SEE YOU EVERY DAY AROUND THE SAME TIME LIKE CLOCK WORK. I DON'T KNOW HOW WE STATED TALKING LIKE WE DID AND YOU CALLING ME WE BOTH WAD TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT BUT WE JUST LAUGHED ABOUT IT . EVERY TIME YOU CALL ME I WOULD JUST LISTERN TO YOU AND YOU WOULD ALWAYS BE LIKE IM BORING YOU RIGHT I WOULD SAY NO KALO YOU ARE NOT AND SHE WOULD JUST KEEP TALKING AND WHEN SHE WOULD FINISH TALKING SHE WOULD ALWAYS SAY THANKS FOR LISTERNING TO MY PROBLEM. KALO REST IN PEACE ILL ALWAYS REMEMBER OUR CONVESATIONS.

I attended Benedict College with Kalo in 1995 and hung out with her occasionally. Back then she was of the coolest and realest people I've come across and I've never forgotten her. We shared the common bond of both being from Charleston and that was enough for her to look out for me. She would often talk about her mother who was once Ms Benedict College. Back then she was passionate about wanting to counsel kids because she said they loved he because she kept it real with her lol. I'm happy to read that she continued her passion as an adult and sad to read about her death. May the Lord be with her family.

I'm deeply sadden by the news when I picked Jamiyah up that Fri before Christmas break you seemed at peace I didn't know that was my last good bye thank you for always encouraging me in the lord and inviting me back to your church May god keep your family during this time

I didn't know Ms. Ka'lo for very long, however when we did get a chance to work together she always had a smile on her face; so happy & full of energy. She could always brighten up your day with a smile or one of her jokes, my condolences to her family & close friends may God continue to watch over you all & keep you strong through this tough time.

Ka'lo rest in peace my friend. You are going to be miss by all your friends from the recreation Department. You always had a smile on your face that light up a room. You will be miss.

My heart was so broken to learn about Ka'Lo's death. She always greeted you with a smile and had such powerful conversation about the Lord which was so enjoyable. This wonderful lady earned the love & respect of hundreds of kids (& their parents). She was a true counselor, teacher, & friend to so many. My condolences to her family & to our extended family at Northwoods Park.
