To the Family of Julius Reid
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived.
I met Julius (Doctor J) when I was employed by James Oldsmobile in the 70's.
He was one of a kind with an infectious smile and a radiant personality and was always ready to assist you with any problems you might have had.
I am proud to have had the opportunity of knowing and working with Julius.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

My big brother i love you.God smiled and walked with you for 66 years getting you ready for the work you must do when he come to take you home. There was a children pie that was baked by our mom for her six children. it was put on the shelf to be sliced when the time was right. We always wondered who would get the first slice of our mom sweet pie.
God chose a sweet slice for you. One day the whole pie will be back together again this time with mom and god waiting to greet us.So go and continue you work that god has for you to do.I will miss you . Love always Your baby sister (Angie) and Family Donnie, Nikki, Mark, and your nieces & nephews

Children, your father spoke highly of you. Over the many years we would spend hours talking about the family and his church. He loved all of you
dearly. We grew up together with all of his bothers and sisters as family and neighbor and attended Greater Bethel A.M.E Church. I can truely say that he was always the same. Big smile on his face all the time! He loved to laugh and had an encouraging word to make your day.
If you had the time,he would tell you great stories. He moved to Goose Creek SC when he was a teenager and served on many of the boards at Greater Bethel--Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School superintendent, Class Leader, Laymen to the A.M.E. Conference, and Minister to name a few. Rev. Julius Reid will truley be missed.

It was an honor to have Julius for a neighbor for the last 19 years. I loved to hear my grandson open the front door and yell out "Hi Mr. Julius". I knew that we would have to walk over and visit even if it was just for a couple of minutes. Noah would always walk home with a beaming smile on his face because Mr. Julius took time to stop what he was doing and visit.
Our prayers are with his family at this time. He will truly be missed by many.

I first met Julius working at Regency Olds together. He had a happy, out going personality and would help anybody in need. He introduced me to competetive bass fishing, and I enjoyed all the great times fishing with him. My condolences to his family and friends that knew such a good man. We will miss you Julius.

Please know that your father was a diligent & willing worker in the Charleston District of the AME Church especially with the Church School Convention when I was Director of Christian Education (1986-1993). We would still greet each other at District events. Mr. Reid held his family and church dear to him; never giving up an opportunity to share the Good news. Though he will be sadly missed, know that he touched the lives of many for kingdombuilding! Be blessed!

Julius was a wonderful person. As neighbors (across the street; 1044 Willowood), we spent many great times discussing life, including the majority of the time; fishing. Chrys and I watched Marlin grow up and we experienced Hugo together. Julius was there for me when my father passed away. I am proud to of been a friend of Julius. The last time I spoke to him was in Lowes of Goose Creek and he then informed me that he finally retired and was now a servant of the Lord. God Bless the family and friends of Julius.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Our heart felt sympathy goes out to the Reid family. We are friends and past neighbors of Julius. My husband is one of his fishing buddies and they loved to tell those fishing stories. We were very blessed to have just seen Julius in Food Lion parking lot last week and had a joyous conversation as usual. Julius is a true blessing that God sent to us all and he touched so many lives and will truly be missed.
