Julie Herndon Obituary

HERNDON, Julie Mrs. Julie Veach Herndon, 62, of 194 Deer Court, Magnolia Hill in Green Pond, died Monday, January 31, 2005, at her home on the Ashepoo River. Funeral services will be held 2 o'clock, Wednesday, February 2, 2005, in Green Pond Baptist Church, with Reverend Jim Williams officiating, directed by The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Magnolia Hill on the family property in Green Pond. Pallbearers will be Johnny Miley, Erwin Hooker, Wallace McCord, Doctor David Hiott, Doctor John Hiott, Ronnie Nettles, Brandon Hamm, and Billy Ray Herndon. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Roberts, Chris Cook, Mike Spade, Larry Washington, Jimmie Waddell and Jason Causey. Mrs. Herndon was born January 28, 1943, in Greensboro, North Carolina, and was a daughter of the late Burley Trenton Veach and Frances Edmondson Veach. She was the co-founder of Low Country Marine, Inc., in Walterboro, where she was the secretary and treasurer for the past 32 years. She was an active member of Green Pond Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Women on Mission, church choir, and was a former chairperson of the social committee. She was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she was Girl of the Year in 1981, was a member of the Walterboro Tea and Topics, was a member of the Walterboro Tennis Association, and was an avid outdoorsman. Surviving are: her husband of 43 years, Thomas Grady Herndon; son, Thomas Grady "Tommy" Herndon, Jr., and his wife Tammy Wood Herndon of Green Pond; daughter, Julie Ann Bazzle of Green Pond; step-mother, Kathleen Veach of Thomasville, N.C.; step-sister, Harriette Engle of Amelia Island, Florida; mother-in-law, Berniece Crosby Herndon of Walterboro; and four grandchildren, James Bryan "Jamie" Smoak, Elizabeth Anne Smoak, Reagan Elaine Herndon and Ryan Brady Herndon. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Green Pond Baptist Church, Stained Glass Fund, P.O.
