Julian Michael Murrin MT. PLEASANT - In Loving Memory of Julian Michael "Mike" Murrin. Julian Michael "Mike" Murrin, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away peacefully among family on June 8, 2018 in Jupiter, Florida. Following a brief illness, Mike went to be with the Lord at the age of 82 years. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia, on November 23, 1935, to the late Julian Francis Murrin and Helen Brooks Murrin. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara Williams Murrin, of 49 years; and two brothers, Smith D. Murrin of Tucson, Arizona, and William R Murrin of Charleston, West Virginia. Mike is survived by his two daughters, Diana Murrin Simms (Jeff) of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Elizabeth Murrin Gong (Greg) of Bakersfield, California; a brother, John Bernard "Jack" Murrin of Medina, Ohio; two sisters, Mary Carol Painter of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Anne Frances Scott of Sevierville, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Jillian Shelton and Danielle Gong of Bakersfield, California, and Amy Simms of Slidell, Louisiana; a great-grandson, Colton Shelton of Bakersfield, California; his long-time companion, Cherrie Knight, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and many nieces and nephews. He is lovingly remembered by countless friends located across the multiple states in which he resided. Mike received his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. Following his career with FMC Corporation, he worked with and traveled the world for Mobile Oil in various senior positions for 18 years. He retired in 1996 to Mount Pleasant, SC. Mike was an avid golfer and runner. He was dedicated to his faith and a member of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church in Sullivan's Island, SC. He was actively involved with the development of the City of Mount Pleasant and his Dunes West neighborhood. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 20 at 10:00 a.m. at the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church located at 1204 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at Dunes West Country Club until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
