Julian Cheney Obituary

Julian Cheney New Hope, SC - Chief Master Sgt. Julian Wade Cheney, US Air Force Reserves (Ret.), of New Hope, SC, died Thursday morning at his residence. His funeral will be 11:00 AM Monday morning, October 31, 2016, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will follow in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, New Hope. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church Parsonage Fund, 1253 Jedburg Rd., Summerville, SC 29483. Mr. Cheney was born October 18, 1944, in Augusta, GA, a son of Hal Burnette Cheney and Mary Myrtis Brake Cheney. He was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church, where he previously served as a lay leader, lay speaker, adult Sunday School teacher, leader of the Nell Smith Bible Study Group, member of the men's club, and served on various committees. Mr. Cheney also retired as Chief of Logistics at the Charleston Air Force Base. He was a member of the 315 Military Airlift Wing Alumni Assoc., American Legion Post #166 Goose Creek, the Noncommissioned Officer's Assoc., the Air Force Sergeant's Assoc., the National Rifle Association, and the General Ellison Capers Camp #1212 Sons of the Confederate Veterans, in which he formerly served as a Past Commander and was currently serving as Chaplain. He previously volunteered for the Gift of Life and the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Mr. Cheney was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Hazel Maddox and Glenda C. Griesel, and two brothers, P. Milton Cheney and W. Irvin Cheney. Surviving are, his wife, Audrey Chinners Cheney; two sons, Joshua Wade Cheney and his wife, Jessica, of Mt. Pleasant, and Matthew Hal Cheney and his wife, Evelyn, of New Hope; a sister, Estelle C. Rhodes of Columbia; and three grandchildren, Paislee, Cameron, and Colton.
