Julian Michael Bass FERNANDINA BEACH, FL - Julian Michael Bass, 78, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 peacefully in his sleep, at home, with his beloved wife by his side, after a brief illness. Michael was a faithful communicant of St. Michael Catholic Church in Fernandina Beach, FL. He joyfully served as an Altar Server, had been a Eucharistic Minister, and spent each day in prayer. He was happy to lead the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet before Mass. He loved his Catholic Faith and Amelia Island. Michael was born in Charleston, SC on July 11, 1943 and attended Catholic School. He was a retired nurse, having worked at MUSC and the VA Hospital, both in Charleston, SC. During the Vietnam Conflict, Michael served in the Merchant Marines, transporting goods from U.S. Ports to Vietnam and other foreign ports, as needed. Michael was a past President of the Holy Name Society in South Carolina. Michael was predeceased by his parents: James Matthew and Mary Elizabeth (Pendarvis) Knox; his sister, Barbara, and two brothers: Jimmy and Tommy. He leaves behind his wife of twelve years, Linda, of Fernandina Beach, FL; two sisters: Edna (Bill) Mariorenzi, Mattie (Thomas) Dallas, and a brother, John (Barbara) Knox, all of South Carolina. He also leaves eleven sisters-in-law and their families, several nieces and nephews, and many loving Church members who were like family to him. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Thursday, August 19, 2021, with a Rosary led by Sr. Rose & Sr. Josephine at 6pm. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Michael Catholic Church on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 11:00 am, with Fr. Jose Kallukalam officiating.
